Which destinations to visit in Tanzania

Serengeti National Park

Serengeti holds the esteemed status of being both a World Biosphere Reserve and a World Heritage Site. Its reputation as one of the world’s most renowned safari destinations is well-deserved. The park’s most iconic feature is undoubtedly the annual migration of over one million wildebeest and other plains game. This awe-inspiring wildlife event takes place as these massive herds traverse the Serengeti’s plains and woodlands in search of fresh grazing.

Ngorongoro Crater

The crater is home to a wide variety of wildlife species, including the Big Five (lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and rhinoceros), as well as cheetahs, hyenas, hippos, wildebeests, zebras, and numerous bird species. The enclosed nature of the crater provides a natural enclosure for these animals, making it an excellent location for wildlife viewing.

Tarangire National Park

Is a place to put on your itinerary. From the wide-open plains in the north, south along the Acacia and baobab studded ridges and valleys of the Tarangire River, and across vast seasonal swamps, wildlife gathers in large numbers. This is the dry season refuge for an enormous swathe of southern Maasailand, and between July and November the wildlife here is extraordinary by any standards Africa-wide.

Lake Manyara National Park

Lake Manyara National Park offers visitors a chance to observe a wide array of wildlife species in their natural environment. The park is home to a rich variety of mammals, including elephants, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, and several primate species such as baboons and blue monkeys. Lions are also a highlight of the park, known for their unique tree-climbing behavior—a behavior rarely seen in these big cats elsewhere.

Kilimanjaro National Park

Mount Kilimanjaro’s allure extends beyond its imposing presence. It offers a range of ecological zones that make the climb a truly remarkable journey. Starting from the cultivated lower slopes, climbers traverse through lush rain forests filled with a variety of plant and animal life. As they ascend further, the landscape transitions into heath and moorland, characterized by unique plant species adapted to the mountain’s high altitude and harsh conditions. Above the tree line, hikers enter the alpine desert, a barren and rocky terrain leading to the final ascent through glaciers and snow to reach the summit.

Zanzibar

Zanzibar is famous for its pristine white sand beaches and crystal-clear turquoise waters. The island offers a range of water-based activities, including snorkeling, scuba diving, sailing, and fishing. The coral reefs surrounding the island are home to a diverse array of marine life.
