Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1 : Depart to Lake Chala

Depart from Arusha in the morning. Your guide will pick you up. The journey by road from Arusha to Lake Challa typically takes around 4-5 hours, depending on traffic. Enjoy the scenic views along the way, passing through rural landscapes, and small towns, and possibly seeing Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance. When you arrive at Lake Challa with the best view from above, you will hike down the Lake Challa for different activities.

Day 2 : Full-day activities Lake Challa

After breakfast at Lake 

  1. Hiking: Begin your day with a hike around the crater rim. The trail offers stunning views of the lake from different vantage points, as well as the surrounding lush vegetation. Make sure to bring sturdy hiking shoes and plenty of water.

  2. Nature Watching: Take some time to observe the diverse flora and fauna surrounding the lake. Lake Chala is home to a variety of bird species, including fish eagles and kingfishers. Keep an eye out for monkeys and other wildlife that inhabit the area.

Midday: 4. Picnic Lunch: Find a scenic spot along the crater rim or by the lakeside to enjoy a picnic lunch. Bring along a packed lunch or arrange for a local guide to prepare a traditional Tanzanian meal for you.

  1. Swimming: After lunch, cool off with a refreshing swim in the clear waters of Lake Chala. The lake is known for its deep blue color and is a popular spot for swimming and snorkelling. Be cautious of the depth and currents, especially if you’re not a strong swimmer.

Afternoon:

6. Boating: Rent a kayak or canoe and explore the lake from the water. Paddling around the lake allows you to appreciate its beauty from a different perspective and get up close to the rocky shoreline.

Day 3: To Tarakea with a top at the Orphanage

  1. Arrival in Tarakea: Arrive in Tarakea in the morning, either from Arusha, You Guide will pick you up from lake Challa Lodge 

  2. Visit the Orphanage: Upon arrival, make your way to the orphanage. Contact the orphanage staff in advance to schedule your visit and confirm any guidelines or requirements.

  3. Introduction and Tour: Meet with the orphanage staff who will provide you with an introduction to the facility and a tour of the premises. Learn about the orphanage’s mission, the children under their care, and any ongoing projects or activities.

  4. Interaction with Children: Spend time interacting with the children at the orphanage. Engage in activities such as playing games, reading stories, or doing arts and crafts together. Be respectful of the children’s boundaries and follow the guidance of the orphanage staff.

Midday:

5. Lunch: Have lunch either at the orphanage, if provided, or at a nearby restaurant in Tarakea. Enjoy local Tanzanian cuisine and take a break to rest and recharge.

Afternoon:

6. Continued Activities: Resume your activities with the children in the afternoon. You can organize group activities, provide educational support, or simply spend time bonding with the children.

  1. Donation or Contribution: If you’ve brought along any donations such as clothing, school supplies, or toys, distribute them among the children with the assistance of the orphanage staff. Your contributions can make a meaningful difference in their lives.

Late Afternoon:

8. Farewell and Departure: Bid farewell to the children and staff at the orphanage, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to visit and spend time with them. Exchange contact information if you wish to stay in touch or support the orphanage in the future.

Overnight: Homestay 

Day 4 : Volunteer at Naiyeme school

Arrival in Tarakea: Arrive in Tarakea in the morning, either from Arusha, Moshi, or any other nearby location. You can travel by private car, taxi, or public transport depending on your preference and convenience.

Visit to the Orphanage: Upon arrival, make your way to the orphanage. Contact the orphanage staff in advance to schedule your visit and confirm any guidelines or requirements.

Introduction and Tour: Meet with the orphanage staff who will provide you with an introduction to the facility and a tour of the premises. Learn about the orphanage’s mission, the children under their care, and any ongoing projects or activities.

Day 5: To Simba Farm with a view of Mt Kilimanjaro

Departure from Tarakea: Start your day early in the morning, around 7:00 AM, to make the most of your visit. Arrange for transportation to Simba Farm from Tarakea. You can hire a private car, taxi, or use a local transport service.

Travel to Simba Farm: Enjoy the scenic journey from Tarakea to Simba Farm. The drive typically takes around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on road conditions and traffic. Along the way, keep an eye out for glimpses of Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner 

Overnight: Simba Farm Lodge 

Day 6: Kilimanjaro day hike optional

You will hike Kilimanjaro on this day ( Optional )

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner 

Overnight: Simba Farm Lodge 

Day 7: To arusha or Kilimanjaro airport

Departure Day, You will be transferred to the Airport for a Departure according to your flight hours.
